Subject: Greetings and Monthly Message

I will be leaving today (Thursday, 8/28/08) for a disciple-making conference in Lubumbashi, The Democratic Republic of Congo, in west central Africa.  I will be teaching with disciple (OM)*, a disciple of one of my “primary Timothys,” Dan Baugh of Lake Jackson, Texas(O)* presently lives and works with an oil company in Qatar, Middle East.  He, his wife, and two disciples will fly with them to the DRC for this conference.  Please pray earnestly for us and all of our involvements in this trip, and for all of the attendants in the conference there.  We earnestly want the Holy Spirit in life-transforming power to be manifested in this meeting.  I return on September 7.

I want to remind the U.S. residents who read these words of the disciple-making conferences that are coming soon.  The first will be in Trinity Baptist Church, Southaven, Mississippi, on September 12-13.  I will be teaching in this conference with disciples Brian Davis and Casey Pearson.  Attached is a brochure with more information and registration form.

The next two disciple-making conferences are in November.  The venues have been changed from camps to churches.  More details will follow next month.

Atlanta area - November 14-16 at Eagle’s Landing Baptist Church in Forsythe, Georgia.

Nashville area - November 21-23 at First Baptist Church in White House, Tennessee

I am almost breathless as I write these words to you.  I have just returned from a succession of meetings in other states—Tennessee, Florida and West Virginia.  The Holy Spirit met with us in an unusual way in each meeting.  It was my privilege to be with some of God’s finest children in each of these meetings.  I want to encourage those of you who are in these fellowships; you have an opportunity to serve Him that many do not have.  I urge you to faithfully exploit every possibility.  God will use you to the ends of the earth if you seek His Face and walk with Him.

Greetings, also, to all of those at home and abroad who receive this month’s message.  The network of disciples on the mailing list continues to enlarge daily, and the number of pastors overseas is astounding to me.  I pray that God’s richest blessings, the “blessings in heavenly places” that Paul referred to in Ephesians 1:3, will be yours today.  Thank you for taking time and effort to read these words and the accompanying study of the Gospel.

A little boy was part of a family that was blessed to be exposed to the Gospel in church every Sunday.  One Sunday, his mother was ill and the family stayed home from church to attend to her.  The little boy could not remember when he had missed church.

During the morning, he turned on the television set and stumbled onto a live Gospel telecast from a church he wasn’t familiar with.  He watched a few minutes, and saw the preacher get up to preach.  He left the room, ran to his mother’s bedroom, and exclaimed, “Momma, guess what?  The news is on, and this time it’s about God!”  His words supply us with an excellent definition of the Gospel—news, good news!  When the Gospel is presented, the real news, the best news, the saving news, is on—and this time, it’s about God!  And God is willing to incarnate His Gospel in your life today. This month’s message is entitled, “The Full Gospel”, and is based on I Thessalonians 1:5-8.  You see, your sins are the human reason for the Gospel.  His love is the Divine reason for the Gospel.  Without those two things, there would have been no Gospel as we know it.  Would you simply confess your sins directly to God at this moment, turning from them in repentance?  Then, remember that Jesus loves you incredibly in spite of your sins.  Remember that He died for you—He, the Son of God, died for you and your sins.  Remember, too, that death could not maintain its hold on Him—He arose from the dead to seal an eternal victory over death.  If you will trust Him today, He will save you for eternity today.  Dear friend, do trust Him to save you now.  Simply say to Him, “Jesus, I do here and now trust and receive You to save me.  Come into me today, forgive my sins and give me the Gift of Eternal Life.”  Then, go to some Christian and tell him of your decision.  Immediately, seek out a fellowship of believers and begin to seriously and practically follow and serve Christ.  If you follow the convicting and converting work of the Holy Spirit in your life, then I welcome you to the Forever Family of God today!
